Deuteronomy 6:5 - You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.
If we can get a clear picture of the Father and Jesus and the throne
room, it might be easier to enter into worship. Revelation 1:14, 4:3,5 gives a description
of the Father and the Son. Let me describe them to you.
You are walking into the throne room. There is a big bright throne
in front of you. There is someone sitting on it. The light is so bright it's hard to see His
face, but somehow you know that He is smiling. There seem to be a lot of colors all
around Him. It's a rainbow. Wow! The colors are so clear, you've never seen colors like
that before. Can you see it? What was that noise? It sounded like thunder and I just saw
lightning. There are beautiful stones in His clothes. They are sparkling like diamonds.
Can you feel the love that is coming from Him? Not like anything we have felt here. He
just loves us so much it makes us feel warm all over.
Someone else just came into the room. It's a man, but not an
ordinary man. This one is dressed in white and He is shining. He has a gold belt around
his chest. His hair is so shiny that it looks white, and it looks like fire is coming out of
His eyes. But it doesn't make you scared, it just makes you very, very quiet. Everything
about Him is shining. He is saying something! It's the word of God coming out of His
mouth. It's JESUS! He is so bright that it's like looking into the sun.
He's walking over to the Father. They shine into each other just like
a mirror. That's where the rainbow comes from. There is so much love between them
that you can't even describe it. They turn to you and that love pours all over you like
water. They love you so much, and all they want is for you to love them back. Does that
sound like a fair deal? Let's just worship them both right now!
How many of you can say that you love God? Do you really love
God, or do you say it because you think we want to hear it?
Duet. 6:5 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your might."
Is that how you love God? Do you know what that means? Have
you ever really, really wanted something? You wanted it so bad that you thought that you
couldn't stand it if you didn't get it? You thought about it all the time and maybe couldn't
sleep? You hoped that you would get it for Christmas, or your birthday? Well turn that
feeling over to God. Want to be with Him that bad. With everything that is in you,
Spirit, soul and body, love God! Think of ways to spend time with Him, and ways to
please Him. He deserves it!
In Luke 1:44 Mary came to visit her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth
was going to have a baby. When Mary said hello to her cousin, the baby inside of
Elizabeth knew that Mary had Jesus in her because the Bible says
"The babe in my womb skipped like a lamb for sheer joy."
(Message version) You see even a baby still inside of someone has it built into them to
praise God. So you see we have no excuse. We know all about God, and yet we still
don't praise Him. Let's be like that baby, John, and skip for joy. Later when John grew
up, God used him to tell people that Jesus was coming and that He was the Messiah. He
became a mighty man of God.
In Luke 10:21 Jesus talks about God hiding things from people that
really don't want to know Him, and that he reveals it to babes. That can be real babes or
children or it can mean anyone that will approach God like a child. You are His children
and God will reveal things to you that He may not show others, because they probably
wouldn't believe it. So as you worship the Lord, be open to Him to tell you things that
you have never heard before. You are precious to Him and He wants to share things with
you.
How do you minister to God?
Eph. 5:19, says "Sing hymns instead of drinking (secular) songs!
Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song
to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ. (Message version) You
shouldn't have to find a reason or a time to praise God. Just praise Him all the time.
Col. 3:16, And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in
your lives-- Words, actions, whatever-- be done in the name of the Master, Jesus,
thanking God the Father every step of the way. (Message version)
Do you get the idea? No matter what you are doing, or what is
happening to you, PRAISE THE LORD!
Eph.5:19 "Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing and making melody in you heart to the Lord." (NKJ)
Do you ever find yourself humming a tune that you heard. It kind
of sticks with you all day. You can't seem to get it out of your head. Well think about
one of the songs you know or sing in church and sing or hum that all day, to God.
"In psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in
your heart to the Lord." Col.3:16 (NKJ)
