A Study On Worship

Lesson 5

Entering His Gates

Psalm 100:4

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His Courts with Praise.

We have been learning about God and who He is. Now we need to learn how to praise and worship Him. We are starting with praise. We need to enter in joyfully into the presence of God and eventually come to a place where we are comfortable there and can enter into worship naturally.

Scripture References: Psalm 100:1-5 , Ps. 34:1, Ps. 50:23, Ps. 150, Heb. 13:15

Everyone knows how to make a noise. I would say most of us know how to make a joyful noise. If you are talking to your friends and laughing and having fun. Did you know that God wants to join in on that with you? He wants to have a joyful time with you.

Ps. 100 is a happy chapter. It starts out with " Make a joyful noise unto the Lord " It also says to serve Him with gladness and to come into His presence with singing.

Verse 4

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name."

Verse 5

For the Lord is good , His mercy is everlasting.

We need to be joyful praisers and have some fun with God. Contrary to popular belief of some, He is not a solemn sober God that sits on His throne and scowls.

Psalms 2:4 He who sits in the Heavens shall laugh

He is a joyful God. He wants us to be joyful too. It comes up to him as a sweet smelling fragrance. He is our father and like our earthly fathers, like to have fun with His kids. So have fun with Him. When we start to sing in our meetings we are entering into God's court. We are in His house and need to give Him our time. So when we start to sing we need to get right into to it and clap and sing and have fun, with God. He likes us to be happy, and praising Him will bring joy to us but also to Him.

Psalm 34:1

I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise will continually be in my mouth. Does that sound like we can only praise God in church? No we can praise Him anytime no matter where we are. Sometimes we can hum a tune and that can be praise. Sometimes we can just thank Him when He does something for us. And we need to set aside a special time every day to sing praises to Him. We can have our own praise service right in our own home. We can have fun with God wherever we are. He just like having your best friend with you at all times.

Psalm 50:23

Whoever offers praise glorifies me.

What does that mean? If you do something good don't you like it when someone notices it and tells you what a good job you did? It makes you feel noticed and important doesn't it. God does so much for us that we need to let Him know that we are thankful for it. If we thank Him and let others know what He has done, it makes them notice as well. That brings glory to Him. Also praise brings Faith. As I hear what God has done for you, it gives me Faith that He will do it for me too.

Psalm 150. The whole psalm tells us to praise the Lord. There are lots of ways to praise the Lord. Let's do it!

Hebrews 13:15

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Why does it say sacrifice of praise? Do you always feel like praising God? When we do it when we don't feel like it, that is a sacrifice. We need to praise God whether we feel like it or not. He is

worthy of our praise!

To really praise and worship the way we are supposed to I believe that it important to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is a must to have His aid. I never knew how to praise God until I got baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Praise is the first step into entering into true Worship.
