Lesson 5

Who To Intercede For & The Blessings of Intercession

Let’s look at some examples of intercession in the word.

Genesis 18:20-33 We see God ready to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah

V24 Abraham begins to intercede for the cities. In verse 32 he gets all the way down to 10 righteous men and God says He will not destroy it if there are 10. But there were not even 10. But in Chapter 19 we see He still sends Angels into the city to get the 4 righteous people out of there. If Abraham had not interceded, Lot would have been destroyed with the rest.

Exodus 32:11-13 Moses intercedes for Israel. He continues in the chapter to intercede to the point that he is willing to be blotted out of the book for their sake.

Joshua 7:6-9 Joshua intercedes for his people

II Chron. 30:17-20 Hezekiah intercedes for the people because of their sin and God healed them

Daniel 9:3, 17 Daniel sets himself to fast and seek the Lord. V20-27 the answer comes, an angel is sent.

John 17:1-26 Jesus intercedes for His disciples and for all that will believe on Him.

Study and meditate on this prayer and see what He prayed and know He never had an unanswered prayer. This is what He wants for us.

Eph. 1:16-23, 3:14-19 Paul prayed this for the Christians at Ephesus. We can pray this for people now.

Colossians 1:9-28 Paul prayed all this for the Colossians. He laboured, travailed and there was great conflict. Ch. 2:1-3

Who Do We Intercede For?

1) Those in authority I Tim. 2:1-4 This includes, pastors, mayors, teachers, principals, Prime Ministers, Presidents, Kings, Queens. Anyone in authority over you and others. Jer. 29:7, Rom. 13:1-7, Titus 3:1, Ez. 22:30,

2) Your family. Duet. 30:19-20, Is. 49:25. If there is a lack of love in a home, intercession will bring it together in a bond of love.

3) All saints Eph. 6:18, Gal. 6:2, I Cor. 12:26, Col. 1:9, Eph. 1:16-18, Eph. 3:14-21

4) Your church. Pray for members collectively and individually. Pray for leaders in your church.

5) Ministers of the Gospel. Eph. 6:19, Col. 4:3

6) Those who are sick. Rom. 8:26, Rom. 15:1, Heb. 12:12, James 5:14-16

7) The lost. II Cor. 5:18-20, Is 66:8. Never go witnessing until you have interceded for the people you are going to see.

8) New Christians. Gal. 4:19, I Cor. 4:14-16, Col. 4:12,13, II Cor. 12:21, II Cor 5:10-11

9) Those who need deliverance. II Thess. 3:1-3

11) World missions. Matt 28:16-20, Matt. 9:35

12) Harvesters & reapers. Luke 10:2, Matt. 9:37,38

13) Little children and those with a lack of knowledge of the word and are unable to receive for themselves Rom. 15:1

14) The second coming of the Lord. Luke 2:25, II Thess 4:14-18, 5:1-10, Eph. 6:10-19, Rom. 8:23-25, Luke 21:34-36

We are in a warfare in the spiritual realm. Eph. 6:12, II Cor. 10:3-5, Dan. 10:12, I Tim. 6:12

Always attack in the spirit realm, never in the flesh. Paralyse Satan and the people will turn around. Always pray the word. Be positive and the end results and then pray in tongues.

The Blessings of Intercession

1) The first blessing involves the law of sowing and reaping. If you give your time in intercession for others, God will have people interceding for you and your loved ones Gal. 6:7-9

2) You build up the spirit man. Jude 20, I Cor.14:4. Edify yourself. Charge yourself up.

3) A feeling of fulfilment, of accomplishment or usefulness.

4) You are in communication with God. Get to know God like no one else, enter into the heart of God. Love, Justice, Holiness, Grace, Mercy, Wisdom, Majesty, Glory, Authority, Power, Knowledge, Purity. Meditate on His virtues. Intercession is being made holy by God’s Holy Spirit. A life linked with God. James 4:8

5) Power with God. John 14:13-14 Power of the intercessor. John 16:14 Spiritual authority.

6) Freedom in the Spirit. Yielding to God. Visions and revelations come in intercession. Most of this teaching came while interceding in the Spirit.

7) You start God’s blessing chain in motion.  Man asks in the name of the Son

The Son asks God. God loves and gives both to the one being interceded

For and the Intercessor. Ps. 37:4, Ps. 21:2, Job 42:10

8) God will show Himself strong in your behalf II Chron. 16:7

9) Intercession will establish you in the righteousness of God and cause you to have the spirit without measure. Is. 59:16,17, John 12:38, Is. 53:11

10) You will start to operate and see the fruits of the Spirit produced in your life.
