The Year of Jubilee

Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”

What is the Year of Jubilee. It was proclaimed in the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus. It was a year of cancelling all debts and wrongs.

Lev 25:10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.
If you read the entire chapter of Lev. 25 you will see all that is covered. It was a year of complete freedom from all debt and all possessions returned to them.

In Isaiah it is prophesied of Jesus that he would be our Jubilee.

Isa 61:1-11

The mighty Spirit of Lord Yahweh is wrapped around me
because Yahweh has anointed me,
as a messenger to preach good news to the poor.
He sent me to heal the wounds of the brokenhearted,
to tell captives, “You are free,”
and to tell prisoners, “Be free from your darkness.”
2 I am sent to announce a new season of Yahweh’s grace
and a time of God’s recompense on his enemies,
to comfort all who are in sorrow,
3 to strengthen those crushed by despair who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful bouquet in the place of ashes,
the oil of bliss instead of tears,
and the mantle of joyous praise
instead of the spirit of heaviness.
Because of this, they will be known as
Mighty Oaks of Righteousness,
planted] by Yahweh as a living display of his glory.
4 They will restore ruins from long ago
and rebuild what was long devastated.
They will renew ruined cities
and desolations of past generations.
5 Foreigners will be appointed to shepherd your many flocks;
strangers will cultivate your fields and tend your vines.

Messiah’s Ministers
6 But you will be known as Priests of Yahweh,
and called Servants of our God.
You will feast on the wealth of nations
and revel in their riches!
7 Because you received a double dose
of shame and dishonor,
you will inherit a double portion
of endless joy and everlasting bliss!
8 “For I, Yahweh, love fairness and justice,
and I hate stealing and sin.
I will rightly repay them because of my faithfulness
and enter into an everlasting covenant with them.
9 Their seed will be famous among the nations,
and their descendants the center of attention of the people.
All who see them will recognize
that they are the seed that Yahweh has blessed with favor!”

Messiah’s Music
10 I will sing and greatly rejoice in Yahweh!
My whole being vibrates
with shouts of joy in my God!
For he has dressed me with salvation
and wrapped me in the robe of his righteousness!
I appear like a bridegroom on his wedding day,
decked out with a beautiful sash,
or like a radiant bride adorned with sparkling jewels.
11 In the same way the earth produces its crops
and seeds spring up in a garden,
so will the Lord Yahweh cause righteousness and praise
to blossom before all the nations!

Luke 4:18-21  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the broken hearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.” 20 After he read this he rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone stared at Jesus, wondering what he was about to say. 21 Then he added, “Today, these Scriptures came true in front of you.”

We don’t have to wait for every fifty years as they did in the old Testament. Our year of Jubilee is now. Every day we can claim Jubilee because of what Jesus said here.
What has he promised us?

1) That He preaches the Gospel to the poor! Let the Poor say I am rich!

2 Cor. 8:9  For you have experienced the extravagant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was infinitely rich, he impoverished himself for our sake, so that by his poverty, we become rich beyond measure.

2) He came to heal the broken hearted. No more sorrow.

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

3) Preach deliverance to the captives. We have been set free from all oppression. All bondage that the devil would try to put us in. We are free!!

Gal 3:13-14 Yet, Christ paid the full price to set us free from the curse of the law. He absorbed the curse completely as he became a curse in our place. For it is written: “Everyone who is hung upon a tree is cursed.”
14 Jesus Christ dissolved the curse from our lives, so that in him all the blessings of Abraham can be poured out upon gentiles. And now through faith we receive the promised Holy Spirit who lives in us.

Gal 5:1 At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth and firmly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past..

4) To give sight to the blind. Both physically and spiritually. We see the manifestation of the physical healing of the blind throughout the Gospels.

Mat 11:5 ‘The blind see again, the crippled walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised back to life, and the poor and broken now hear of the hope of salvation"

And he also took away Spiritual blindness.

Mat 15:14 Stay away from them, for they’re nothing more than blind guides. Do you know what happens when a blind man pretends to guide another blind man? They both stumble into a ditch!”

John 16:7-13 But here’s the truth: It’s to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away the Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will expose sin and prove that the world is wrong about God’s righteousness and his judgments.
9 “ ‘Sin,’ because they refuse to believe in who I am.
10 “God’s ‘righteousness,’ because I’m going back to join the Father and you’ll see me no longer.
11 “And ‘judgment’ because the ruler of this dark world has already received his sentence.
12 “There is so much more I would like to say to you, but it’s more than you can grasp at this moment. 13 But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak on his own, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come.

The Holy Spirit is here to open blind eyes to the truth of the Word of God

5) To Set at liberty them that are bruised

Isa 42:3 He would never crush a broken heart nor disregard the weak and vulnerable. He will make sure justice comes to those who are wronged.

2 Ti 1:7 For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.

He wants us whole. He doesn’t want us bruised or hurting in any way.

Isa 53:5 But it was because of our rebellious deeds that he was pierced and because of our sins that he was crushed. He endured the punishment that made us completely whole and in his wounding we found our healing.

6) He preached the acceptable year of the Lord

Isa 49:8 God’s Faithfulness
8 Yahweh says:
“When the time of showing you favor has come,
I will answer your heart’s cry.
I will help you in the day of salvation,
for I have fixed my eyes on you.
I have made you a covenant people to restore the land
and to resettle families on forgotten inheritances.

2 Cor 6:2 For he says, I listened to you at the time of my favor. And the day when you needed salvation, I came to your aid

When is the Acceptable year of the Lord! Now! Now we have Jubilee. Now we have freedom! We just need to accept it and live in the freedom that Jesus has possessed for us. No longer in bondage to the world and the world system. God is our source and He will see us through!

Jesus is our Jubilee! He has pardoned all our debt and transgressions. He has replaced it with Prosperity, Health, Wholeness of Spirit Soul and Body. Anything we need to live in Victory.

2 Peter 1:2-4 May grace and perfect peace cascade over you as you live in the rich knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
God’s Generous Grace
3 Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. 4 As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises we can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.

This is the beginning of a Jubilee year for us all!!
