Trust In The
Lord With All Your Heart
I have never given my testimony before, or
even written it down, but the Lord impressed
upon me that it was time to do so. So this
is my testament of how I accepted Jesus into
my heart and learned to trust God as my
Heavenly Father
I have always been
thankful that I grew up in a Christian
home. Two wonderful parents, that were a
shining example of Christ, in word and
deed. We always went to church, Sunday
mornings to Sunday School then church
service. When we were young, Dad would
go to church for the evening service,
but mum would have church with us in the
living room. We would sing our favourite
songs and then mum would tell us a
story. I cherish those times.
Friday night the church had a children's
program called "Happy Hour". I am sure
that there were other speakers, but the
one night I remember in my mind and
heart was the night that Mr. Parlaine
told us the story of the Prodigal Son
with flannel-graph. I was only 5, but I
remember it clearly. I was too shy when
he asked if anyone wanted to accept
Jesus into their heart...but I wanted to
so badly. So when I got home I asked my
sister Carolyn, who was only 8, if she
had Jesus in her heart and she said yes.
So I asked if she would pray with me. So
we knelt down by the bed and prayed and
I asked Jesus into my heart. That night
changed my life. Even at that age, I
knew that something was different.
One night I had a bad dream, and I
remember going in to my parents room.
Both were asleep. I tried to wake my
mom, but she didn't hear me. So I
cuddled up in the chair beside the bed.
She must have sensed me there because
she turned over and asked why I was
there. I told her and this is what she
said. "You go back to your room, and you
pray and ask God to take the dream away,
and help you to sleep." Reluctantly I
did. I really wanted to snuggle in with
her. But it was the best thing she could
have said. As young as I was, it was a
transforming night for me. I prayed and
I asked the Father to take away the bad
dream, and that I would never dream a
bad dream again, and to help me go to
sleep. He did and I fell asleep. That
was the beginning of my journey of
learning to go straight to God when I
had a problem. And he has always been
there for me.
When I got old enough, I got to go to
Pioneer Girls, a wonderful group in our
church that taught us the Bible during
the week. This is where I learned a lot
of Bible scriptures, that I memorized,
and still know by heart today. We also
learned the books of the Bible. All of
this was for points, but the true
purpose was to help us to learn the
Bible. Little did I know at that time,
just how much I was going to use that as
I got older.
Looking back now I see how God's hand
was in all of this, and just how
important it would be to make me the
Christian I am today, and how it
literally saved my life more then once.
God gave me a revelation of this, and
that is what I want to share with you.
Two scriptures that I learned all those
years ago have been a stronghold in my
life. I didn't realize at the time, just
how much. God knows what you need, way
before you do, and way before it
happens. These two scriptures have been
the backbone of everything I have
learned in my Christian walk and have
become my life scriptures.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He
shall direct your paths.
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a
light to my path.
Little did I know that learning these
scriptures as a young child, I was
feeding them into my spirit. That every
time I would say them, I was reinforcing
their truths, making them a part of me.
Instilling Faith and confidence in God,
His Son and the Holy Spirit, and that
they would be leading me and guiding me
my whole life.
Having done a study by Dr. Caroline
Leaf, I now understand how by
repetition, we feed our mind and spirit,
until it becomes a part of us.
Eventually becoming just a normal part
of what we believe and speak. It will
flow out of our inner most being.
John 7:38
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
38 He who believes in Me, as the
Scripture has said, out of his heart
will flow rivers of living water.” 39
But this He spoke concerning the Spirit,
whom those believing in Him would
receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet
given, because Jesus was not yet
glorified.
When God showed me this I shared it with
Tom. I was overwhelmed at the goodness
of God and His love for me, and all of
us that are His children. When we are
little children, he knows our whole
life, and will lead us along the path he
knows we belong on, but we must be
obedient and not stray from that path,
in order to fulfill the plans he has for
us.
If you take Proverbs 3:5-7 and meditate
on it, I pray that God will give you the
same revelation He gave me. Let's break
it down so we can get a fuller
understanding.
"Trust in the Lord, with all your
heart."
Do you trust God no matter what? Can you
place your life in His hands and know
that He will never harm you? That He
loves you, as much as He loves Jesus?
No that is not blasphemy, Jesus said it
himself ...
John 17:23 I in them, and You in Me;
that they may be made perfect in one,
and that the world may know that You
have sent Me, and have loved them as You
have loved Me.
I trust God with my life, and the lives
of my family. Putting them all into His
hands was the easiest thing I have ever
done. How? By taking the next part of
that verse...
"And lean not on your own understanding"
Our understanding can get us into a lot
of trouble. The mind will believe
anything that is fed into it. So we need
to feed it the Word of God, not anything
else. If someone tells you something,
don't believe it unless it lines up with
the Word of God. I don't care how
convincing or sincere it sounds. Our
understanding is based on what we see,
in the physical world around us. We need
to be believe, based on what the Word of
God says.
Romans 3:3-4
For what if some did not believe? Will
their unbelief make the faithfulness of
God without effect? 4 Certainly not!
Indeed, let God be true but every man a
liar.
Hebrews 11:1
By Faith We Understand
11 Now faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen.
Whatever we need, that pertains to life
and godliness, God has already provided.
If it promises life...it is God. If it
promises death...it is the devil. Plain
and simple!
John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy. I have come
that they may have life, and that they
may have it more abundantly.
2 Peter 1:2-4a
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you
in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our
Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to
us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him
who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by
which have been given to us exceedingly
great and precious promises, that
through these you may be partakers of
the divine nature.
Many Christians do not understand this.
But God has provided everything we will
ever need to live. And not only promises
but "Exceeding Great and Precious
Promises" and through these promises, we
have the divine nature of God in us!
Meditate on that for while and let it
sink in! We have God living in us, and
we in Him!
The next part of the verse.
"In all your ways acknowledge Him"
The definition of acknowledge means to
state that something is real, factual or
true.
To admit to be true or as stated;
confess
To recognize the authority or claims of
No matter what the circumstances, stop
and think of what God would have you to
do and find it in the Word of God to be
sure. His Word has final authority!
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said,
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that
proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
And after you Trust, don't lean on your
own understanding and acknowledge Him as
final authority...Then you are ready for
him to direct your path.
"And He shall direct your paths."
And how does He direct your path?
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a
light to my path
Through His Word! Who is the Word? Who
is the Light?
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God. 3
All things were made through Him, and
without Him nothing was made that was
made. 4 In Him was life, and the life
was the light of men. 5 And the light
shines in the darkness, and the darkness
did not comprehend it.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and
dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father, full of grace and truth.
Psalm 27:1a
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them
again, saying, “I am the light of the
world. He who follows Me shall not walk
in darkness, but have the light of
life.”
1 John 1:5 This is the message which we
have heard from Him and declare to you,
that God is light and in Him is no
darkness at all. 6 If we say that we
have fellowship with Him, and walk in
darkness, we lie and do not practice the
truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as
He is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
So God is the Word! Jesus is the Word!
God is Light! Jesus is the Light!
The Holy Spirit is the Teacher
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy
Spirit, whom the Father will send in My
name, He will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance all things
that I said to you.
John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit
of truth, has come, He will guide you
into all truth; for He will not speak on
His own authority, but whatever He hears
He will speak; and He will tell you
things to come.
All three members of the Trinity will
lead and guide us along our path, if we
will obey them by obeying the Word!
Many times over the years, the devil has
tried to steal my life. Some before I
had a lot of knowledge of the Word, but
God saved me from them all. So many
times I have asked God...how come you
made me so strong and hungry for your
Word? And finally I listened for an
answer...and He said this to me...
Because you came to me as a little child
and have trusted me all of your life,
that is your reward.
By learning these scriptures as a young
child, I opened the way for God's
protection in my life.
No wonder Jesus said this...
Mark 10:13-15
13 Then they brought little children to
Him, that He might touch them; but the
disciples rebuked those who brought
them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was
greatly displeased and said to them,
“Let the little children come to Me, and
do not forbid them; for of such is the
kingdom of God. 15 Assuredly, I say to
you, whoever does not receive the
kingdom of God as a little child will by
no means enter it.”
Matthew 18:2-4
2 Then Jesus called a little child to
Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and
said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless
you are converted and become as little
children, you will by no means enter the
kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever
humbles himself as this little child is
the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
It doesn't matter how old you are, it is
never too late to start to study God's
word and memorize scriptures. As long as
you come as a His little child, he will
lead you along that path too. Hide His
Word in your heart...in your spirit.
Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that
I might not sin against you.
Isaiah 26:3- You will keep him in
perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on
You, Because he trusts in You.
Some new
words I have never heard before of a very
old song.
Jesus loves
me! This I know,
For the
Bible tells me so;
Little ones
to Him belong;
They are
weak, but He is strong.
Refrain
Yes, Jesus
loves me!
Yes, Jesus
loves me!
Yes, Jesus
loves me!
The Bible
tells me so.
Jesus loves
me! This I know,
As He loved
so long ago,
Taking
children on His knee,
Saying, “Let
them come to Me.”
Jesus loves
me still today,
Walking with
me on my way,
Wanting as a
friend to give
Light and
love to all who live.
Jesus loves
me! He who died
Heaven’s
gate to open wide;
He will wash
away my sin,
Let His
little child come in.
Jesus loves
me! He will stay
Close beside
me all the way;
Thou hast
bled and died for me,
I will
henceforth live for Thee
It doesn't
matter how old you are, it is never too late
to start to study God's word and memorize
scriptures.
As long as you come as a His little child,
he will lead you along that path too.
Hide His Word in your heart...in your
spirit.
Psalm 119:11
I have
hidden your word in my heart that I might
not sin against you.
Isaiah 26:3-
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose
mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in
You.

This is me with my sister Carolyn that
prayed with me to accept Jesus.
