Principles for Receiving from God

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

 1. Be absolutely specific when you pray

You can't scatter shoot a general all encompassing prayer out to God and have it happen. There are a lot of scriptures in the Word of God. Find what you need in the scriptures, and then pray. He wants you to tell Him, just exactly what you need. give Him detail.

Mark 11:22-24 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Genesis 17:1-6  “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

Abraham - God gave him a vision.  Look at the stars - that's how many descendents you will have!

Exodus 32:13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”

Luke 1:26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” 29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” 34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” 35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Did you know that Mary could have refused God, and never given birth to Jesus? She had a free will, the same as we do.  God did not just tell her she was going to do it. But God gave her a vision and she could see it. She knew it in her spirit that it was what God wanted to do. He sent His Word to her and she received it and it came to pass. But just imagine what she would have missed if she had not caught the vision. What if she had dwelled on the idea of what people would think of her. What would Joseph do? She had questions, but as soon as the Angel explained it to her, she accepted it as truth.

God would have found someone else, but he wanted to bless her. He saw her faith in him, and he made it come to pass. This is the kind of faith we have to have in His Word, and His ability to make whatever you need, to come to pass! For a miracle to take place in our lives, we have to see it first. Everything with God is now. It is already done. We just have to line our vision up with His and it will manifest!

Matthew 9:27-30 Two Blind Men Healed

27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened.

Matthew 9:20-22  20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

 2. Have a burning desire to see it come to pass

Mark 7:26-30  26 The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” 28 And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.” 29 Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” 30 And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.

Matthew 12:34b For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Mark 11:24 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Envision yourself possessing your desires today!

Romans 3:3-4a  3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.

Psalm 37:4  Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Philippians 4:19
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God not only wants to give us what we need, but also what we desire.

Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

In order to receive from God we need that burning desire to see it come to pass in our lives. Not just a hoping and a praying, sure hope it happens kind of a desire....but an I'm not letting go until it happens, believing and receiving kind of desire and faith.

2 Peter 1:2-4a
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature.

What is it that you desire? What do you need? Anything that pertains to life and godliness are yours!

3. Write it down!

Habakkuk 2:2  The Just Live by Faith

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.

Deuteronomy 31:19  “Now therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the children of Israel.

Acts 2:17-18 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.

Receive your vision on the inside! Visualize everything as though it were already that way.

Don't wait until you need something, like healing for example, to know what the Word of God says. It is very hard to believe God for what you need...when the circumstances are upon you, then to believe for what you need, ahead of time.  And you can only do that by studying the Word.

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth

 4. Dream your Dream!

Dream Big Dreams! Don't set limits! With God all things are possible!

Mark 10:27   27 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

Romans 4:17-18  17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”

Gideon

Judges 6:11 Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” 15 So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” 16 And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

Genesis 37 Joseph had a dream and he held on to it no matter what happened to him and it came to pass.

What do you need to come to pass in your life? What is your vision? What is your dream? Write it down! Be specific! Find a scripture that says it is yours, Talk about it every day, and see it come to pass!

Right now write down two or three top things that you want to see come to pass in your life. Put the scriptures that you are standing on to see it come to pass under each item on your list.  Put it up somewhere that you can see it every day and speak it out of your mouth every time you do.
